There is one drawback to Liquify, however. While the effects are great for retouching images and creating layers, the trial version provides you with 10 wet and 10 dry brushes for the purposes of applying Liquify effects. Not only is this a bit ridiculous, because you can apply those effects to just about all of the tools in the tool box, but it makes the program feel rather limited. I like the concept and the capabilities of Liquify, but I miss having numerous built-in tools to apply these tools to my images in bulk.
And even if Photoshop isn’t perfect and there are a few bugs here and there, I do not see a reason why it cannot remain the default program for editing and working with digital media. By all accounts, Adobe has succeeded where other industry leaders have either not succeeded or even failed. The last of Java is now dead and Photoshop has continued to evolve and adapt with digital images, while other industry leaders have stagnated. Adobe’s version 6.0 of Photoshop continues to be innovative and flexible – so much so that it is still the application to work with RAW images.
